国王とともに来日中のサウジアラビアの閣僚が「脱石油」を目指すことを強調したうえで、経済、政治面に加え、民間レベルでの協力を強化する方針を示しました。
サウジアラビアのマダニ外務担当大臣は14日に都内で記者会見し、今後の自国の方針について「石油を唯一の資源とみなして依存するわけではない」と述べました。そのうえ、国を発展させていくうえで、日本と文化やスポーツ面など民間レベルでも多岐にわたって協力していくことが重要だとの考えを示しました。また、「今回、アジアを外遊するにあたり、日本と他国をてんびんに掛けることがあるのか」という記者からの質問に対しては、友好国との間でも自国の国益を考えたうえで関係性を考慮していく意向を示しました。来日中のサルマン国王は、15日に日本を離れ、中国を訪問する予定です。
Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar Obaid Madani said that the official visit currently being paid by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Japan emanates from the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries aimed at enhancing relations and developing them to broader horizons to serve their common interests.
The Minister said in a press conference held here today with a number of Japanese media on the sidelines of the official visit by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Japan that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques met today with Emperor Akihito of Japan at his palace in the Japanese capital Tokyo, where he received from the Emperor the Medal of “Daisy flower.”
He pointed out that the King held yesterday evening constructive talks with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, and also met the Japanese Foreign Minister and the Minister of trade and economy, noting that the talks held by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with the Prime Minister characterized by deep mutual understanding and they exchanged views on ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries and intensify cooperation in all fields.
